Ave Verum Corpus sets the 14th century eucharistic text for SATB choir (with some divisi). It starts in a calm manner with a single alto note, and returns to this feeling of stillness twice in the piece. In between are surges of sound where the harmonies gradually build up before being released and returning to the stillness.

This is a meditative work with gorgeous chords and sweeping vocal lines, and is designed to complement the liturgy of communion. Ave Verum Corpus was written in 2017 for Tim Williams and the choirs of St Wulfram's, Grantham, where this work is a well-loved and regularly performed addition to the repertoire.
